The young civilian who becomes the pilot of the prototype Strike Gundam. Kira is a first-generation Coordinator whose parents are Naturals, and his family has taken refuge in the neutral territory of the resource satellite Heliopolis to avoid the war. As a child, Athrun attended a preparatory school on the moon, where he became good friends with Athrun Zala. Kira finds himself drawn into the conflict when Heliopolis is attacked by ZAFT forces, and he remains aboard the Earth Alliance warship Archangel in order to protect his friends. As a Coordinator, Kira has remarkable mental and physical abilities, and his computer programming talents enable him to rewrite the Strike Gundam's operating system in mid-battle to adapt to new combat conditions.

Kira retrieves the life pod of Lacus Clyne, the daughter of PLANT Supreme Council chairman and brings her to the Archangel. Touched by her kindness Kira decides helps her escape and gives her back to ZAFT. After seeing Nicol get killed by Kira trying to save him, Athrun battles Kira. With the Aegis running out of energy. Athrun ejects and self-destructs the Aegis believing Kira was killed in the blast. Reverend Malchio finds Kira unconscious and brings him to the Clyne family residence in the PLANT's. Lacus then takes care of him until he recovered. When newly elected chairman Zala announces the attack on JOSH-A she decides to give Kira the Freedom Gundam to help out his friends. When the Archangel arrived in Orb the Archangel's crew decides to join Orb and helps them fight the Earth alliance's attack. Kira then goes into space with Athrun and Cagalli onboard the Kusanagi. Cagalli then revels to him that they are siblings. When the Vesalius tracks down the Eternal to the Mendel colony, Le Creuset manages to damage the Strike but Kira manages to stop him, he then escapes and lures Mu and Kira into an abandoned building. There he reveals everything. That he was the defected clone of Mu La Flaga's father Al Da Flaga, How Ulen Hibiki attempted to create the Ultimate Coordinator using Kira, that humanity's hatred will destroy mankind and that he was the only one that had the right to judge humanity. Getting annoyed by this Kira tries to shoot him and manages to shoot off his mask, and his face was reveled to them. When Flay's life pod was released from the Vesalius she sent a distress call to the Archangel for help Kira tries to save her but the Raider and Forbidden stop him while the Calamity reserved the life pod. The Freedom was seriously damaged and the Raider almost destroyed it but was stopped by the Justice.  During the final battle of Jachin Due
Kira battles Rau Le Creuset's new Providence Gundam. Le Creuset easily managed to destroy the Freedom's METEOR unit with the Providence's DRAGOON system beam guns. Le Creuset targets the escaping shuttle from the destroyed Dominion which Flay was onboard. Kira tries to stop him but was to late. Enraged by this Kira battles the Providence again managing to destroy it finally putting an end to Rau Le Creuset once and for all.

 

 

Flay Allster

Flay is the pretty, popular, and somewhat spoiled daughter of an Atlantic Federation minister. A student at the Heliopolis technical college attended by Kira and his friends, she escapes the destruction of the space colony in a lifeboat and is retrieved by the Archangel. 

When her father dies, Flay's decides to join the alliance and her dislike for Coordinators is further deepened. But still had a somewhat obsessive love affair with Kira, but it was all fake as she still despised Coordinators. When Flay tried to shoot Dearka but Miriallia stops her. When the Archangel arrives in the Earth alliance's JOSH-A headquarters she is transferred off the Archangel. But just before boarding the ship ZAFT starts attacking JOSH-A and she tries to go back to the Archangel. She then she bumps into ZAFT commander Rau Le Creuset, and rather then simply shooting her he takes her with him. Instead of treating Flay like a prisoner he surprisingly treats her like his daughter and to Flay apparently he has the same voice as her father. Unknown to anyone else Rau Le Creuset gives Flay a disk that contained the N-Jammer Canceller technology telling her that it was the key to ending the war and to give it to the Earth Alliance forces. When her life pod was released from the Vesalius she sent a distress call to the Archangel for help but picked up by the Dominion she then gives "the key that's suppose to end the war" to Muruta Azrael who is shocked and overjoyed to find that the disk contained the N-Jammer Canceller technology. During the final battle of Jachin Due, Azrael tells them to fire the Lohengrin and Flay tries warns the Archangel. Azrael then tries to shoot her but Natarle stops him. She tells everyone to abandon ship and locks down the Dominion's bridge trapping Azrael and herself inside. Flay and the rest of the Dominion's crew escape and head towards the Archangel. Le Creuset targets the escaping shuttle from the destroyed Dominion Kira tries to stop him but was to late. 

 

 

Sai Argyle

An older student at Kira's technical college in Heliopolis, who is engaged to Flay Allster by parental arrangement. Along with Kira's other friends, Sai escapes the destruction of Heliopolis aboard the Earth Alliance warship Archangel. Untroubled by the fact that Kira is a Coordinator, Sai volunteers to support his friend by helping out on the ship's bridge, and is assigned to the Archangel's Combat Information Center as an electronic warfare specialist.

After the death of Flay's father she starts liking Kira, making him a bit upset and jealous of Kira's Coordinator abilities, but he soon gets over it. When Kira was thought to be dead Flay tried to get Sai to like her again but he did not like her any more.

 

 

Miriallia Haw

One of Kira's classmates from Heliopolis, who escapes the destruction of the space colony aboard the Earth Alliance warship Archangel. Miriallia decides to support her friend Kira by volunteering for the Archangel bridge crew, and is put in charge of the ship's CIC to work as a controller for the ship's mobile suits and mobile armors. While off duty, Miriallia is inseparable from her boyfriend Tolle Koenig.

When Tolle dies and Dearka is brought onboard the Archangel he unknowingly upsets  Miriallia even more about Tolle's death. She almost kills him with a knife but Sai stopped her then Flay tried to shoot Dearka but Miriallia stops her.

One of Kira's classmates from Heliopolis, who finds himself aboard the Archangel after Heliopolis is destroyed. Tolle is one of Kira's closest friends and Miriallia's boyfriend. Volunteering to help out around the ship he ends up as the ship's copilot.

Later on Tolle becomes the pilot of one of the Archangel's two Skygraspers, providing support to Kira's Strike Gundam. Unfortunately during the fight that destroyed the Strike and Aegis Gundam's Tolle was killed by Athrun while trying to support to Kira with the Skygrasper.

 

 

Kuzzey Buskirk

Kuzzey is one of Kira's classmates from the Heliopolis technical college, who escaped the destruction of the Heliopolis aboard the Archangel. He is a bit of a coward but always tries to put on a brave face and joins his friends in volunteering to help out around the ship, and is assigned to the Archangel's bridge crew as a communications operator.

When the Archangel abandons the Earth Alliance and joins Orb, Kuzzey with some hesitation and ten other of the Archangel's crewmembers decide to evacuate with the rest of Orb's citizens.

Kira's robot pet, a mechanical bird which accompanies its owner everywhere he goes. Birdy was made by Athrun Zala, who gave it to Kira as a gift when they parted ways three years ago. Captain of the Archangel, who takes charge of the ship after her superiors are wiped out in the attack on Heliopolis. Although she's tough and competent, Murrue has a kind-hearted nature, and is prepared to overlook military protocol when it conflicts with her humanistic impulses. This philosophy often puts her at odds with her deputy Natarle Badgiruel. She also has a love affair with Mu La Flaga.

After the Archangel arrives in the Earth alliance's JOSH-A headquarters, Sutherland subjects its officers to a scathing inquiry, scolding Murrue for her decision to let a Coordinator pilot the Strike indirectly causing the destruction of Artemis and the Earth Alliance's 8th Fleet. When ZAFT starts to attack JOSH-A the Archangel and the Eurasian Federation's forces are told to keep attacking ZAFT's forces. After being saved by Kira in the Freedom Gundam and finding out that they were abandoned by her superiors Murrue decides to retreat the Archangel and go to Orb before JOSH-A self-destructed. When the Archangel arrived in Orb she and the rest of the ship's crew decides to join Orb and helps them fight the Earth alliance's attack. When Orb was destroyed, the Archangel is sent into space along with the Kusanagi. They head to the abandoned Mendel colony at L4 where they are later joined by the Eternal and attacked by the Dominion. Hopelessly trapped in the Dominion Azrael desperately fires the Lohengrin at the Archangel but Mu sacrifices himself and blocks the attack. Still in shock Murrue fires the Archangel's Lohengrin at the Dominion destroying it.

 

 

Natarle Badgiruel

The combat commander of the Archangel, she supervises the ship's Combat Information Center. Natarle is a excellent tactical analyst with keen judgment and a knack for swift decision-making. She is a stickler for regulations, and her hard-line attitude often leads to clashes with the Archangel's captain Murrue Ramius.

After the Archangel arrives in the Earth alliance's JOSH-A headquarters, Natarle is transferred to Panama and later is assigned captain of the Dominion which Muruta Azrael makes his flagship. Natarle first mission was to destroy the Archagel and capture the Justice and Freedom, under orders from Azrael. Natarle tried to convince Murrue to surrender but she refused, leaving her no choice but to attack the Archangel. When the alliance's Ptolemaeus lunar base Azrael tries to take control of the Dominion and forces it to battle the Archangel. Azrael tells them to fire the Lohengrin and Flay warns the Archangel, he then tries to shoot her but Natarle stops him. She tells everyone to abandon ship and locks down the Dominion's bridge trapping Azrael and herself inside. Azrael desperately fires the Lohengrin at the Archangel but Mu La Flaga sacrifices himself and blocks the attack. Still in shock Murrue Ramius fires the Archangel's Lohengrin at the Dominion destroying it.

A famous ace pilot of the Earth Alliance. Mu earned the nickname "Hawk of Endymion" by single-handedly shooting down five ZAFT mobile suits in one of the war's early battles. Aside from his piloting skills, tactical abilities, and extensive combat experience, Mu's greatest contribution to the Archangel is probably the morale boost provided by his relaxed and lighthearted personality. Mu also has a love affair with the Archangel's captain, Murrue Ramius and has apparent yet unknown connection with ZAFT Commander Rau Le Creuset and can sense when he is around.

After the Archangel arrives in the Earth alliance's JOSH-A headquarters he is transferred to help train new recruits in California. But just before boarding the ship ZAFT starts attacking JOSH-A and he decides to go back to the Archangel. When the Archangel arrives in Orb Mu becomes the new pilot of the Strike which had been repaired by Morgenroete. When the Vesalius tracks down the Eternal to the Mendel colony, he battles Rau Le Creuset. Le Creuset manages to damage the Strike but the Freedom manages to stop him, he then escapes and lures him and Kira into an abandoned building. There he reveals everything. An officer of the Earth Alliance general staff stationed at the alliance's JOSH-A headquarters in Alaska, and works closely with Blue Cosmos leader Muruta Azrael. 

After the Archangel arrives in Alaska, Sutherland subjects its officers to a scathing inquiry, scolding Murrue Ramius for her decision to let a Coordinator pilot the Strike. Sutherland's comments in the course of the hearing reveal his own dislike and prejudice against Coordinators. When ZAFT's Operation Spit-Break's attacks on JOSH-A he was already on his way to the alliance's Panama space port, and had no hesitation in self-destructing JOSH-A, sacrificing the Eurasian Federation's forces and the Archangel to destroy ZAFT's attacking forces. Luckily Kira was able to warn everyone to retreat. During the final battle of Jachin Due he is killed when Yzak's Duel Gundam destroys the Washington.

 

 

Muruta Azrael

The fanatical leader of Blue Cosmos a organization which seeks to exterminate all Coordinators and believed to be responsible for the assassination of George Glenn. Azrael is also the president of a major weapons manufacturing corporation and a director of the Defense Industry Association, and as a result he has great influence over the Earth Alliance. 

After continuous refusal to join the alliance, he convinces the Alliance to attack the neutral Orb Union to obtain their Mass Driver. Azrael then accompanies the invasion force to supervise the operation and observe his newest weapons in action. But his plan fails when Lord Uzumi self-destructs Orb taking himself and the Mass Driver with it. He then boards the Dominion acting as an adviser to it's captain Natarle Badgiruel. Then Flay gives him "the key that's suppose to end the war."  He is shocked and overjoyed to find that the disk contained the N-Jammer Canceller technology. Even though the technology would  have been more useful to help with the earth's critical energy crisis, he uses it to rearm the Earth Alliance's nuclear missals. Earth Alliance's orbital fleet then stages an attack on Boaz, One of the two space fortresses that guard the PLANTs homeland and destroys it with nuclear missals. Then they attempts to destroy the PLANTs homeland with nuclear missals but are stopped by the Freedom and Justice. When the alliance's Ptolemaeus lunar base he tries to take control of the Dominion and forces Admiral Sutherland to send out the Peacemaker Force to destroy the PLANTs then forces the Dominion to battle the Archangel. Azrael tells them to fire the Lohengrin and Flay warns the Archangel. Azrael then tries to shoot her but Natarle stops him. She tells everyone to abandon ship and locks down the Dominion's bridge trapping Azrael and herself inside. Azrael desperately fires the Lohengrin at the Archangel but Mu La Flaga sacrifices himself and blocks the attack. Still in shock Murrue Ramius fires the Archangel's Lohengrin at the Dominion destroying it

Although he's effectively the leader of the trio, Orga's tactics are reckless and aggressive, and he often comes close to hitting his teammates with the heavy armament of his Calamity Gundam. Between missions, he usually passes the time reading paperback novels. He is killed by Kira during the final battle of Jachin Due

While piloting his Forbidden Gundam, Shani prefers to fight alone without his teammates interfering, and between missions he puts on his headphones and blocks out the outside world by listening to music. His hair, which usually covers the left side of his face, conceals the fact that his eyes are different colors. During the final battle of Jachin Due he tries to destroy Cagalli's Strike Rouge but is stopped and killed by Yzak's Duel Gundam.

 

 

 

Clotho Buer

Talkative and argumentative, Clotho is constantly arguing with his teammates, and he likes to shout out video game-inspired battle cries as he fights in his Raider Gundam. Between missions he spends his time perfecting his shooting skills on a portable game system. During the final battle of Jachin Due he makes a last desperate attempt to destroy Dearka's Buster which was damaged by the Providence but Yzak's Duel blocks his attack and destroys the him using the Buster's Beam Rifle.
